The atmosphere at McAuley on Thursday, August 28, was buzzing with excitement. As handfuls of girls bustled into the front doors for the first day of classes, preparations were underway to welcome the girls back for a sensational year.

Before being treated to a delicious welcome breakfast by the McAuley Parents’ Club, the student body, faculty, and staff united for a prayer service that highlighted a year of hopes, dreams, and new beginnings.

We wish the McAuley community well as they embark on new discoveries in the year ahead.

Elizabeth Beriau CMHS ‘98 Married Jean-Paul Jacquet on July 14, 2007. They are expecting their first child, a boy, in June of 2008.

Anthony and Alisha Langway Hinse CMHS ‘00 are happy to announce the birth of their daughter Isabella Grace Hinse born on September 18, 2007.

Katrina Nowak CMHS ‘00 Married Gregory Dusek August 4, 2007 at St. Anne’s Shrine in Isle LaMotte, Vermont.

Christine Anne Beaulieu CMHS ‘03 is engaged to Matthew Somma. An August 1, 2009 Wedding is planned at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception

April 22, 2008 Ethel Roseanna Farmer, CHS 1936 passed away at the age of 91.

April 17, 2008 Mary Joyce Griffin CHS 1938 passed away at the age of 90. She was the sister of Bridget Joyce Malia CHS 1940, Margaret Joyce Concannon CHS 1941 and Katherine F. Joyce CHS 1944.

April 11, 2008 Thomas R. Busby passed away at the age of 78. He was the brother of Mary Hanon CHS 1934 and Barbara Ann Busby CHS 1950.

April 2, 2008 Edward P. Kane passed away at the age of 75. He was the brother of Theresa Kane Croswell CHS 1948 and Margaret Mary Kane Lussier CHS 1956 and sister-in-law Marlene Sylvester Kane CHS 1957

April 2, 2008 Mary Donovan, 80 passed away. She was the mother of former PE teacher, Margaret Honan, Timothy Donovan Track Coach, grandmother of Erin CMHS 2004 and Nellie Honan CMHS 2008.

March 26, 2008 Ruth Galarraga , CMHS 1986 passed away at the age of 40.

March 25, 2008 Mary Ann Cahil CHS 1945 passed away at the age of 80, she was the mother of Mary C. Martin CMHS 1972 and Barbara Boyle CMHS 1973.

March 18, 2008 Katherine Jennings Westort CHS 1932 passed away at the age of 93, she was the mother-in-law of Joyce Boomhour Westort, CHS 1965.

March 15, 2008 Gerald \”Chuck\” Luttrell passed away at the age of 84. He was the brother of Eileen Luttrell CHS 1937, Eunice LLuttrell Carroll CHS 1939 and the brother-in-law of Adelaide Flaherty Luttrell CHS 1934

March 4, 2008 E. Timothy McManus passed away, Tim was a member of the board of trustees at CMHS in 1996.

February 16, 2008 Mary K. Shaw Macek CHS 1951 died at the age of 74.

January 20, 2008 Millicent Ann Hoogkirk passed away at the age of 71, she was the mother of Holly Hooghkirk Villacci CMHS 1980.

January 17, 2008 Jerry Jerome passed away at the age of 85. He was the husband of Marie OConnell CHS 1940, the father of Ann-Marie Jerome McLaughlin CHS 1064, Nancy Jerome Boduch CMHS 1972, Regina Jerome CMHS 1982 and the father-in-law of Barbara Dillenhunt Jerome 1980

January 17, 2008 Kevin J. Roy, passed away at the age of 55. He was the father of Jacqueline Roy CMHS 2003 and Maro Roy CMHS 2004:

January 15, 2008 Regina Bruton Slack CHS 1934 died at the age of 91.

Helen Viola Mason Passed away at the age of 97. She is the mother of Marie McCann CHS 1954.

January 2008 Stephen D. Connolly passed away at the age of 63, he was the father of Anne E. Connolly CMHS 1988

October 21, 2007 Marie Anita Kersey Colby SJA ‘49 passed away at the age of 76.

Saturday, May 10th, Catherine McAuley will be hosting the second James & Maxine Pouravelis Scholarship Fund Race/Run. The fund was established in December of 2006 in memory of two devoted and vibrant members of the Catherine McAuley community. Jim and Maxine lived each day with an unending and unwavering spirit of hope and optimism. Although they embodied this hope through their generous contributions to countless communities, they had a special affection for the McAuley community that nurtured their two daughters and provided them with a superb educational and spiritual foundation. In life, James and Maxine cheered loudly, danced often, and loved immensely. They passed away within two months of each other in the summer of 2006. Even in sickness, with a powerful faith and steadfast love of family and friends, they remained sure and firm in their hope. The James and Maxine Pouravelis Memorial Scholarship will provide financial assistance to young women seeking an education at Catherine McAuley High School; an education James and Maxine saw as essential to the intellectual, athletic, and spiritual development of young women. Through the hope that is nurtured by a McAuley education, this scholarship will continue to keep alive their hope in new beginnings. For questions or to register please contact McAuley5k@yahoo.com.
