Tuition & Financial Aid

A McAuley education is a major investment in your daughter’s potential and will help create a lifetime of opportunities. Every student at Catherine McAuley High School receives some form of tuition assistance. The actual cost to educate a young woman at Catherine McAuley in 2007-2008 was $15,716 resulting in the Sisters of Mercy subsidizing every student $4,916. Tuition and fees only cover approximately 80% of the actual cost of a CMHS education. The difference is realized through fundraising efforts by our Office of Advancement, earnings of the CMHS School Endowment Fund, and additional donations from parents, alumnae, and friends of McAuley. Tuition is reviewed annually. Over the past five years, the annual increase has ranged from a low of 5% to a high of 14%. There is a reduction of 15% for the second and subsequent daughters’ tuition. Additionally, there is a $300 dollar discount for early application and admission.

Tuition Payment Plans

Full tuition payment by June 15 earns the family a $300 discount.
Two payments, the second payment by Dec. 15, earns the family a $200 discount.
Monthly Installments through FACTS, payments starting June 5.

Holding Fee

Once a student has been accepted, the applicants must pay a non-refundable $500 dollar holding fee. This holding fee will be applied towards tuition.

Tuition Assistance

Since its founding, CMHS has been committed to providing assistance to qualified students who have demonstrated financial need. The financial aid application is due on December 31 of each year. Tuition Assistance is granted on the basis of need of the student and her family and the number of applications received each year. In the school year 2007-2008, 34% of students received additional tuition assistance. The total grant amounted to over $331,875.00 for the 85 students receiving assistance. There is a requirement to perform work study assignments. These assignments are on campus and made around the student’s school schedule.

Scholarships

In addition to the Financial Aid that is awarded, CMHS has five scholarships that are available to deserving young women. Catherine McAuley High School scholarships are granted to students who excel in academics, exhibit leadership, demonstrate high interest in co-curricular activities, and participate generously in church or community services. Students interested in applying for a scholarship must submit their completed scholarship packet by June 1st. Scholarship winners will be notified the first week in July.

Academic Excellence Scholarship

Full Tuition for four years The Academic Excellence Scholarship is for the 8th grade student who has shown academic excellence by being the top ranking student who has taken the HSPT and has ranked in the 97 percentile or higher nationally. This student will be awarded full tuition for the four years they attend Catherine McAuley High School. Qualification for the first year has been based upon your daughter’s scoring on the High School Placement Test (HSPT) by Scholastic Testing Service (STS). Subsequent year’s funding will require the attainment of an annual grade point average (GPA) of 3.8 or better.

Catherine McAuley Scholarship -$500

The Catherine McAuley Scholarship is awarded in memory of the Foundress of CMHS who believed that there is no greater service than the education of young women. The Catherine McAuley Scholarship is given to an 8th grade student from a parochial school. This scholarship is based on financial need, academic excellence, leadership, character and service.

Sister Mary Gerald McLellan Memorial Scholarship -$500

The Sister Mary Gerald McLellan Memorial Scholarship is awarded as a memorial to honor her 31 years of service to the McAuley school community as a teacher, mentor, and friend. This scholarship is given to an 8th grade student from a non-parochial school. This scholarship is based on financial need, academic excellence, leadership, character and service.

President’s Scholarship for Academic Excellence

The President’s Scholarship is for the 8th grade student who has shown academic excellence by achieving the highest composite score in the HSPT placement exam given in October. The Scholarship award of $500 annually is dependent upon maintaining honor roll status each year.

Sister Edward Mary Kelleher Principal Scholarship

As principal for 27 years, Sister Edward Mary has been committed to educating young women through a rich and value centered program. Her extraordinary beauty exists in the quiet way she leads and in the gentle way she cares. The Sister Edward Mary Kelleher Scholarship is awarded to a deserving young woman based on a consistent academic performance, a positive attitude and financial need.

Parents Club Scholarship -$500

The Parents’ Club supports Catherine McAuley High School’s mission to inspire and guide students to reach their highest potential in mind, body, and spirit. In its commitment to excellence, CMHS provides an environment in which each student develops her full potential, becomes a 'woman of mercy', well educated, self-disciplined, enriched by diversity, able to lead and willing to serve others. The Parents’ Club Scholarship is based on financial need and service to the applicant’s community and/or school.
